协会简介
早於一九四六年，英国的演奏权益社 （PRS） 已在香港成立了一个机构，专责保护其会员和海外联会的会员的音乐版权，为他们徵收演奏版税。到了七零年代，乐迷对本地粤语歌曲的需求亦渐大，加上香港有著一群活跃和热心的本地作曲家，他们非常乐意为他们的共同利益合作。在此种背景下， PRS 与这群香港作曲家在一九七七年达成协议，成立了香港作曲家及作词家协会（CASH）。
CASH遂於一九七七年九月二十三日在香港按公司条例成立为一间注册有限公司，不拥有资本，於一九七七年十月一日起运作，并於十月二十日在文华酒店举行记者招待会，宣布正式成立。
BACKGROUND
In 1946, The Performing Rights Society (PRS) of the United Kingdom had set up an agency in Hong Kong to protect music copyright of its Members and Members of its overseas affiliated Societies. This agency conducted performing royalty collections. However, by the 1970';s, there was a growing demand for local Cantonese music and there existed in Hong Kong an active and enthusiastic group of local composers who were ready and willing to cooperate for their mutual benefit. It was against this background that PRS arranged with this group of Hong Kong composers in 1977 to establish the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited (CASH).
CASH was incorporated in Hong Kong on 23 September 1977 under the Companies Ordinance, being a Company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital. It started operating on 1 October 1977 and a press conference was held at the Mandarin Hotel to mark the establishment of CASH on 20 October 1977.
成立目的
集体管理及执行香港版权法所赋予音乐作品作者之版权及有关事宜：现共有超过一百三十万位包括香港及来自六十多个海外联会的作曲家及作词家委托了本协会管理其音乐作品的版权，而本协会所代收的版税，在扣除约 20％行政费後，将会全数分派予音乐作品的版权持有人。
透过海外联会，在世界一百三十多个国家∕地区根据当地版权法於当地保障本协会会员的权益。
推动版权意识，加强公众对音乐创作人的尊重，确保他们的心血作品得到适当的报酬。
推广及赞助音乐活动，鼓励本地创作及设立音乐奖学金，以提高香港的音乐水准。   

  
OBJECTIVES
Administer and enforce collectively the rights of composers and authors of musical works subsisting under the copyright law of Hong Kong SAR. CASH at present controls the copyright of musical works of over 1 million local Members and Members from more than 60 overseas affiliated Societies. All licence fees after deduction of its administrative costs (around 20% in 2000) will be distributed to local Members and overseas affiliated Societies.
Protect and administer the rights of its Members in more than 130 countries/territories throughout the world by means of reciprocal representation agreements with overseas Societies.
  Educate the public on copyright issues, reinforce the public';s respect towards composers and authors and ensure that their creative efforts are properly remunerated.
Promote and sponsor musical activities, encourage local composition and award music scholarships to improve the local standard of music.
工作范围
通过牌照合约方式管理及保障本地及海外联会会员作品的公开表演、广播、有线传播及复制等权益。
将收取得到的版权税分派予会员及海外联会会员。
管理CASH音乐基金：该基金旨在提高音乐创作水平、赞助本地音乐活动及培育音乐人才。
向海外联会提供协助，如培训计划。
向会员及音乐使用者提供有关版权的谘询服务。
就有关法例及其执行，联络政府有关部门并提交建议。  

FUNCTIONS
Administration of performing, broadcasting, cable transmission and reproduction rights in the world repertoire of musical works vested by its Members and overseas affiliated Societies through licensing.
Distribution of  royalties collected to local Members and overseas affiliated Societies.
Administration of the CASH Music Fund which aims at promoting a higher standard of music composition, sponsoring local musical activities and developing songwriting talents.
Assistance to overseas Societies in the region, e.g. training.
Advisory services to Members and music users regarding copyright matters.
Liaison with relevant government departments and make recommendations on matters relating to copyright legislation and its implementations.
